Kiwifruit



Kiwifruit is a rich source of vitamin C, 1.5 times the DRI scale in the US. Its potassium content by weight is slightly less than that of a banana. It also contains vitamins A and E.

The skin is a good source of flavonoid antioxidants. The kiwifruit seed oil contains on average 62% alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid.

Usually a medium size kiwifruit contains about 46 kilocalories, 0.3 g fats, 1 g proteins, 11 g carbohydrates, 75 mg vitamins and 2.6 g dietary fiber.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is part of the B family of vitamins. Cyanocobalamin is the most common form of Vitamin B12. Vitamin B-12 is important for the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system and for the formation of blood. It is normally involved in the metabolism of every cell of the body, especially affecting the DNA synthesis and regulation but also fatty acid synthesis and energy production.

Vitamin B-12 is naturally found in foods of animal origin including meat (especially liver and shellfish) and milk products.

VItamin D vs. Cancer


Vitamin is the newest vitamin to be enlisted in the battle against cancer. According to the researchers of the Moores Cancer Center, adequate Vitamin D intake may prevent breast and colorectal cancer. Vitamin D - also known as the sunshine vitamin - can be taken from milk, fish and fish liver oils. Exposure to sunlight will also simulate the skin to produce Vitamin D, hence the term sunshine vitamin.

Got Milk?


Milk is a very good source of vitamins and minerals. A serving (1 cup or 250 ml) of 2%-fat milk contains 285 mg of calcium, and 8 grams of protein, and a number of other nutrients, including Vitamins A, D, K, B12, riboflavin, biotin, potassium, magnesium, thiamine and selenium.
