The American College of Sports Medicine and the American Heart Association recommend exercising for at least 30 minutes per day, five days per week, at a moderate intensity (enough to increase breathing rate, but still allow for conversation).

Fitness and Stroke Risk


Being moderately fit can lower the risk of having a stroke, according to a study by the University of South Carolina's Prevention Research Center in Columbia. Most people can reach that fitness range by walking briskly for 30 minutes a day, five times a week for example.

Hydration and Exercise


Drink at least half a liter of water before exercise to ensure your fluid levels are up to start and then continue taking in as much as you can during exercise. Also, always try to drink more fluids than you need. Smaller quantities at frequent intervals helps optimize hydration.
