Antibacterial Soap Ineffective

Researchers from the University of Michigan are saying that antibacterial soaps that contain triclosan are not as effective as being claimed by manufacturers.

According to the study, antibacterial soaps do not contain high enough levels of triclosan to actually kill bacteria. Rather, these soaps may even reduce the effectiveness of antibiotics such as amoxycillin.

The study is published in the August issue of Clinical Infectious Diseases.
